The department of Medical Oncology of the VU University Medical Center is a dynamic organization with an outstanding international reputation. Our team of professionals is highly motivated to ensure that you will receive an optimal treatment and support during your illness. Beside all aspects of advanced oncology patient care, we perform ground-breaking research. This entails the implementation of new chemotherapies and new strategies of anticancer treatment, such as immunotherapy, anti-angiogenesis, gene therapy and new medicines that work specifically on cancer cells (targeted therapy).

If no treatment is possible anymore, our care is directed to a longer life expectancy while keeping a good quality of life in the form of palliative care.
