There are different ways to obtain a doctorate at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The most common is to complete a doctorate programme as an employee of the medical center. But candidates from outside the university can also ask to be supervised by a professor at VU University medical center (thesis supervisor) when writing their thesis. All research within VU University medical center has to be carried out under the auspices of one of its constituent research institutes. This also applies to PhD research carried out outside VU University medical center.
Our research is part of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam campus Human Health & Life Sciences theme, and organized in eight multidisciplinary research institutes. Please find here the websites of the Research Institutes and contact information.
